Sintra is home, and it is where we shoot most of our work: at Praia da Adraga and in the Sintra forest, less than an hour from Lisbon. Two places full of intimacy and magic, where people slow down, open up and are seen as they are.
Locations
Praia da Adraga, the womb
A small bay held by high cliffs and sea caves on the wild Atlantic coast. For us it is the womb of the mother here in Portugal: a place that holds you. Something softens here. The waves are loud, the cliffs are close, and in that shelter people let go of the practised smile and their natural face comes through. Most of our shoots end here as the sun goes down.
The Sintra forest, the intimacy
Moss, ferns, old trees and soft green light, even in the middle of the day. The forest is quiet and close. It is where we begin, walking and talking until you arrive in your body, and where the most intimate portraits are made.

The magic of Sintra
Mist rolling over the hills, hidden paths, old stone walls and overgrown gardens. Sintra has a magic of its own that you feel as soon as you arrive, and it shows in the photographs. Every shoot finds its own corner of it.
Also in Lisbon
Golden hour at Praia da Adraga is where the most transformational shoots happen: the light turns warm and soft and everything slows down. Early mornings are beautiful too, and outside the summer months the beach and the forest are quiet. From October to March the sun stays low and we can shoot most of the day.
